Chapter 4: …at last I’m free for a night!

I was awakened early on a Sunday morning by the sound of my parents leaving to visit relatives in Pennsylvania. It was going to be a good day. The thought of having them out of the house was exhilarating. I wanted to rip off my clothes and dance around naked all day long….but I didn’t.

The coffee was perking, the toast was toasting and the big bands were blasting away in the living room. Ah freedom….I was singing and dancing around the room in my pajamas and when I looked over my shoulder, I noticed Bob standing in the door way. He took a few quick steps toward me, twirled me around, and we danced for almost an hour.

“I really came over for breakfast,” he hinted. “What’s on the menu?”

“How about a ham and cheese omelet with some hash browns on the side?” I laughed.

“I’ll have that and a cup of coffee. — No, I’m just kidding. I had breakfast early this morning with my dad. We discussed buying some land along the river, just in case it goes on sale before I get back. What are your plans for today?

“I don’t have any plans. How about you?” I asked.

“No plans really….– just a lot of little errands on my ‘to do’ list. Then I’m free. Thought maybe we could go to dinner tonight…. and please don’t say you have a date…”

“I’ll be waiting,” I whispered as I walked into his arms.

“Save some of that for tonight,” he whispered back to me.

Bob took my hand and we walked out to the car together. “I’ll be back at six o’clock.” He winked and drove off. I wondered if the neighbors saw I was still in my pajamas.

It took me nearly all afternoon to get ready.  Girls have so many things to do to look gorgeous for their date. I checked myself out before the mirror and smiled. Men have no idea what it’s like to pull it all together for them, but it usually is worth all the trouble.

More tomorrow…
